Frequently Asked Questions

On-demand shuttle FAQ

What is on-demand shuttle service?

On-demand shuttle service lets riders request rides through an app instead of following a fixed schedule. When a rider opens the app, sets a pickup and dropoff, and submits a request, the system dispatches the nearest available vehicle to them in real time.

How is on-demand different from a fixed route shuttle?

A fixed route shuttle runs on a predetermined path and schedule regardless of where riders are. On-demand dispatches directly to where riders request pickup, reducing wait times and eliminating empty runs to stops with no riders.

How long is the wait time for an on-demand shuttle?

In active programs, most riders are picked up in under 10 minutes. Wait times depend on fleet size and request volume. Slidr right-sizes the fleet for each program so that wait times stay within the expected window.

Can on-demand and fixed route be combined?

Yes. Many Slidr programs run a hybrid model, fixed routes for high-traffic corridors and on-demand for lower-density areas or late-night hours. The same platform handles both service types.

Do riders need a smartphone to use on-demand service?

The primary request method is the app, but Slidr also supports phone-in requests. Staff can enter rides on behalf of riders through the dashboard, and the system assigns and dispatches the same way.
